Harvard Trademark Program
Mission
The Harvard Trademark Program was established by the President and Fellows of Harvard College in order to protect Harvard’s trademarks worldwide and to manage the licensing of merchandise bearing the University’s trademarks in the U.S. and around the world.
Core Activities
The Harvard Trademark Program oversees the worldwide registration of Harvard’s trademarks and guards against their unauthorized use by identifying and resolving cases of trademark infringement throughout the world. Through its licensing activities, the Trademark Program grants licenses for the production and sale of Harvard insignia items; the income generated from the sale of these items supports scholarship funding for students at Harvard. The Trademark Program also advises Harvard schools, departments, and units on the various policies and guidelines that govern the proper use of the Harvard name, shields and logos. Finally, the Trademark Program assists the Harvard community with requests to produce goods bearing Harvard’s trademarks and responds to inquiries relating to a wide variety of trademark issues.
